Airing Wisdom

Jesus: the source of wisdom

Christ’s message in all its richness must live in your hearts. Teach and instruct one another with all wisdom… Everything you do or say, then, should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, as you give thanks through him to God the Father.
-Colossians 3:16-17 (GNT)

On 1st April 1973 it was “Grandma’s Day” – I know this because I have in my hand a copy of “Daily Light” in which is written:-
“To Nana
From Phyllis
Happy Grandma’s Day (dated)
With all my love xxxxxxxxxxx”

Nana was my father’s mother and I had a special bond with her. When she died in 1984, I was given a few small “keepsakes” from her belongings – they are of no monetary value whatsoever but I treasure them for their sentimental value.
The Daily Light came back to me a decade after I gave it to her and two decades after that, in 2001, I picked it up one day and started reading it again. It played a significant part in my story which will unfold as I develop Airing Wisdom.

Reading it this morning Col 3:16-17 stood out because it encapsulates my vision for this blog. I want my posts to speak of the riches in Christ; to draw others into a relationship with him; to reflect the wisdom he gives; to be done in his name and acknowledge my thanks to God the Father for all he has done and is doing for me.

    Welcome to the blog-o-sphere! I am an avid follower of your daughter’s blog. 🙂

    It took my life falling apart for me to realize that all the so-called “wisdom” I had clung to in life were just lies from the Enemy. It wasn’t until I surrendered all those preconceived notions, societal norms, and the comfortable “grey area” I had been living in that I finally understood true wisdom and all she has to offer! And it’s a glorious place to be. I can’t imagine still being in the dark…or where my life would be if I hadn’t been freed from those lies.

    I better understand why Proverbs puts such an emphasis on wisdom, and it’s my daily prayer for my two boys as they grow into young men!

      Thank you for your comment. It’s also a tribute to Marianne who has built up a very successful blog at myomytv.com, as she has been promoting my blog with her followers and many have visited Airing Wisdom as a result. Thank you for your support.

      Natasha, I really appreciate you taking the time to share and I agree with everything you say. Much of what I write about comes from that place where I have run out of answers, or have realized my mistakes. It’s important to remember that we all experience such moments in life and that only God has all the answers. However, God is always present and speaking into our situation…if only we take the time to sit awhile and listen to Him! From your comments, I surmise that you have learned this lesson too.
      You mentioned Proverbs so I include the following quote because, when it comes to Wisdom, there is no substitute for God’s word!!

      Proverbs 3:13-18 (The Message)

      You’re blessed when you meet Lady Wisdom,
      when you make friends with Madame Insight.
      She’s worth far more than money in the bank;
      her friendship is better than a big salary.
      Her value exceeds all the trappings of wealth;
      nothing you could wish for holds a candle to her.
      With one hand she gives long life,
      with the other she confers recognition.
      Her manner is beautiful,
      her life wonderfully complete.
      She’s the very Tree of Life to those who embrace her.
      Hold her tight—and be blessed!

      I’m delighted that you have found this treasure and I hope your sons do too…as I also pray for each one of my four children. Not only that they find it but, having found it they keep hold of it!
